Launched on November 2009, the "Standards Engineer's Arena" (SEA) website promotes the activities for this emerging role.

In the conviction that standards implementation and development will be a key driver for boosting company’s competitiveness and innovation in 2020, the Standards Engineer Arena is fostering the development and employment of “smarts standards” by standard engineers.

Phase 1: Enhanced Glossary (October/2009 - April/2010)

Set-up of our "enhanced glossary" on standards with more than 300 definitions. Enhanced glossary is shown to the user in the form of blue cards which provide quick access to information through keywords. The glossary is constantly updated.

Phase 2: Ontology for Standards (May/2010 - Oct/2010)

Definition of an ontology for the information contained on the enhanced glossary which is the basis for an ontology on standards.

Phase 3: Workable Standards (Nov/2010 - Oct/2011)

Phase 4: Smart Standards (Nov/2011 - Oct/2012)
