Has been introduced to help developing countries to participate more fully in ISO technical work.
Twinning is designed to enable a member body in a developing country to seek assistance from a member body in a developed country.
Purpose
The intention is to ensure that the developing country can play a more useful role in the standards development process and that its particular needs are fully taken into consideration.
This concept will also help experts from developing countries to play leading roles in technical work by twinning at the committee secretariat level, or through the possibility of appointing a vice-chair from a developing country.
