A national standards body within the EC or EFTA, or from a country likely to become a member of the EC or EFTA which has committed itself to complying with the rules set by the statutes of the association and whose written application for membership has been approved by the CEN General Assembly.
The national standards body has as a principal function, by virtue of its statutes, the preparation, approval or adoption of standards that are made available to the public.
