"To date, research on standardization education has been pursued by two different camps:

  1. The Technology Education Community:
    group devoted to encourage research and development in all aspects f technology education

  2. The Standardization Community:
    a group devoted to advance knowledge and research in all aspects of standards and standardization."
The Technology Education Community
  • Deals with standardization as a distinct module or component suited to different levels of technology education curricula.

  • Example of education in a secondary school:
    Procedural knowledge of producing and applying a solution that can fulfill established requirements of commercial or safety standards

  • Example of education in an undergraduate curriculum of electronic engineering:
    Standards and legal regulations were surveyed comparatively important.

  • Example of education in a graduate curriculum of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT):
    Knowledge of standardization and documentary sources were registered as major content items by participating instructional professionals.
The Standardization Community
  • Tries to identify the needs and requirements of standardization education as independent subject.

  • Accentuates the necessity of standardization education on the part of industrial and governmental sector in the pre-employment phase as well as in the in-employment phase.
